About The Position

DATTCO is hiring a full-time Diesel Technician/Mechanic at its Coach and Tour Fleet Maintenance location in Cranston, Rhode Island. The Coach & Tour Group operates 200 vehicles and drives 6 million miles annually. The role involves preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, repairs, repair-order documentation, parts-use records, and road calls. The technician is expected to maintain the hand tools needed for the work and follow instructions from the shop foreman or another supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma, trade school education, or equivalent.
• Training or experience in automotive, truck, or bus repair.
• Driver’s license.
• Hold, or be eligible to hold, a CDL license.
• Hold, or be willing to work toward, ASE certifications.
• Adequate English verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical strength and conditioning to perform all required tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and service inspections on a variety of vehicles.
• Perform diagnostic and repair work on all types of vehicles.
• Complete required paperwork related to repair orders and parts usage.
• Make road calls.
• Own and maintain the proper hand tools to perform job functions.
• Follow orders from the shop foreman or another supervisor.
