Diesel Technician Apprentice
About The Position
Diesel Technician Apprentices work in a fast-paced environment, keep work areas clean, and interact with customers and drivers. No professional experience is required; Love’s provides training through its apprentice program. Apprentices learn diesel diagnostic and repair skills, parts lookup and acquisition, and preventative maintenance. The role also includes assisting customers with roadside services and prioritizing customer safety and satisfaction while following company safety policies and procedures. The schedule rotates between day and night as needed. Apprentices must be able to obtain a Department of Transportation medical card, which Love’s pays for.
Requirements
- Mechanically inclined; professional experience is not required.
- Ability to move and lift 75+ pounds while working in close quarters.
- Ability to work in various temperatures.
- Ability to obtain a medical card through the Department of Transportation.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with roadside services.
- Learn preventative maintenance services.
- Learn electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air conditioning and heating diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn wheel end assembly diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air brakes diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn charging system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn basic computer diagnostics and auxiliary component replacement.
- Learn parts lookup and acquisition.
- Prioritize customer safety and satisfaction and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
- Work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed.
- Obtain a Department of Transportation medical card; the cost is paid by Love’s.
