Diesel Technician Apprentice
About The Position
Love’s Diesel Technician Apprentices work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining clean places and interacting with customers and drivers. Professional experience is not required; Love’s will provide training. The apprenticeship teaches diesel maintenance and repair skills, including diagnostics, component replacement, and parts lookup and acquisition. Apprentices assist with roadside services and learn preventative maintenance. They work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed, and must prioritize customer safety and satisfaction while following company safety policies and procedures. A medical card through the Department of Transportation is required and paid for by Love’s.
Requirements
- Mechanically inclined; professional experience is not required.
- Ability to move and lift 75 or more pounds while working in close quarters.
- Ability to work in various temperatures.
- Ability to obtain a medical card through the Department of Transportation; Love’s pays for it.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with roadside services.
- Learn preventative maintenance services.
- Learn electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air conditioning and heating diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn wheel end assembly diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air brakes diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn charging system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn basic computer diagnostics and auxiliary component replacement.
- Learn parts lookup and acquisition.
- Put customer safety and satisfaction first and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
- Work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed.
