Diesel Technician Apprentice
About The Position
Diesel Technician Apprentices work in a fast-paced environment, keep work areas clean, and interact with customers and drivers. The role is intended for mechanically inclined people without professional experience; Love’s provides training through its apprentice program. Apprentices learn a range of diagnostic, repair, maintenance, and parts-procurement skills while assisting customers with roadside services. The position requires following company safety policies, prioritizing customer safety and satisfaction, and working a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed. Love’s pays for the medical card required through the Department of Transportation.
Requirements
- Mechanically inclined; professional experience is not required.
- Ability to move and lift 75 or more pounds while working in close quarters.
- Ability to work in various temperatures.
- Ability to obtain a medical card through the Department of Transportation; the cost is paid by Love’s.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with roadside services.
- Learn preventative maintenance services.
- Learn electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air conditioning and heating diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn wheel end assembly diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air brakes diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn charging system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn basic computer diagnostics and auxiliary component replacement.
- Learn parts lookup and acquisition.
- Prioritize customer safety and satisfaction and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
- Work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed.
