Diesel Technician Apprentice
About The Position
Diesel Technician Apprentices work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining clean places and providing friendly service to customers and drivers. Professional experience is not required; Love’s provides training through its apprentice program. Apprentices learn diesel vehicle diagnostics and repairs, parts lookup and acquisition, and related maintenance skills. The role includes assisting customers with roadside services and learning preventative maintenance. Apprentices must prioritize customer safety and satisfaction and follow company safety policies and procedures. The schedule rotates between day and night as needed.
Requirements
- Mechanically inclined; professional experience is not required.
- Ability to move and lift 75+ pounds while working in close quarters.
- Ability to work in various temperatures.
- Ability to obtain a medical card through the Department of Transportation; the cost is paid by Love’s.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with roadside services.
- Learn preventative maintenance services.
- Learn electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air conditioning and heating diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn wheel end assembly diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air brake diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn charging system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn basic computer diagnostics and auxiliary component replacement.
- Learn parts lookup and acquisition.
- Put customer safety and satisfaction first and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
