Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic
About The Position
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC (MHC) is hiring a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy-duty mechanical repairs under general supervision. The technician receives on-the-job training through a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status. The position performs and assists with general mechanical duties and provides experience working on engines, fuel and electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-ups, and general maintenance. Work on major components is performed with close supervision, while troubleshooting is performed on minor problems. The role also includes attending training sessions and meetings, maintaining an orderly work area and properly handling company tools, advising the Shop Foreman when additional repair work is necessary, and following safe work practices. This is a safety-sensitive position involving work on heavy equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles, where impairment or inattention could threaten health or safety. The position is at MHC Kenworth-Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.
Requirements
- Minimum three years of hands-on experience or graduation from vocational courses.
- A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
- Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.

- CDL preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform and/or assist with general mechanical duties.
- Gain experience with minimal supervision on engine overhauls, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-ups, and general maintenance.
- Work on major components with close supervision.
- Troubleshoot minor problems.
- Attend training sessions and meetings.
- Maintain a neat and orderly working area and properly handle company tools.
- Advise the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
- Follow safe work practices and procedures, use safety equipment when required, respond to safety suggestions, and seek assistance when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
