About The Position

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC (MHC) is hiring a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic for its MHC Kenworth-Odessa branch. Under general supervision, this role performs heavy-duty mechanical repairs and receives on-the-job training through a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status. The position is designated safety-sensitive because its duties involve working with heavy equipment, machinery, and motor vehicles, where impaired attention could threaten health or safety. MHC is a multi-state network of full-service diesel truck dealerships, leasing and rental operations, transport refrigeration locations, and a finance company. Requirements

Minimum three years of hands-on experience or graduation from vocational courses.
A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications are required.
Necessary tools to perform the position responsibilities.
CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform and/or assist with general mechanical duties.
Gain experience with minimal supervision on engine overhauls, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-ups, and general maintenance.
Work on major components with close supervision.
Troubleshoot minor problems.
Attend training sessions and meetings.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area and handle company tools properly.
Advise the Shop Foreman when additional repair work is necessary.
Follow safe work practices and procedures, use safety equipment when required, respond to safety suggestions, and seek assistance when necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
