Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic
About The Position
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC (MHC) is hiring a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy-duty mechanical repairs under general supervision. The technician receives on-the-job training through a development program to work toward Service Journeyman status. The role includes assisting with general mechanical duties and gaining experience on engine overhauls, fuel and electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-ups, and general maintenance. Major components are handled under close supervision, while troubleshooting is performed on minor problems. The technician also attends training sessions and meetings, maintains an orderly work area and properly handles company tools, and advises the Shop Foreman when additional repairs are needed. Safe work practices and procedures must be followed, including using safety equipment when required and seeking assistance when necessary. This is designated as a safety-sensitive position. The job is based at MHC Kenworth-Atlanta in Mableton, Georgia.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of hands-on experience or graduation from vocational courses.
- A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
- Necessary tools to perform the position responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Perform and/or assist with general mechanical duties.
- Gain experience with engine overhauls, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-ups, and general maintenance, with minimal supervision.
- Work on major components under close supervision.
- Troubleshoot minor problems.
- Attend training sessions and meetings.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area and properly handle company tools.
- Advise the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
- Follow safe work practices and procedures, use safety equipment when required, respond to safety suggestions, and seek assistance when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
