Diesel Service Technician Apprentice
About The Position
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC (MHC) is hiring a Diesel Service Technician Apprentice to perform heavy-duty truck repair under general supervision while receiving on-the-job training through a development program intended to help the apprentice achieve service technician status. The role includes assisting with general mechanical work, gaining experience across truck systems, working on major components under close supervision, and troubleshooting minor problems. The position is designated safety-sensitive because it involves work with heavy equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles where impaired attention could create a health or safety risk.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of hands-on experience or graduation from vocational courses.
- A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications are required.
- Must have the tools necessary to perform the position responsibilities.

- CDL preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform and/or assist with general mechanical duties.
- Gain experience with motor overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, motor tune-up, and general maintenance.
- Work on major components with close supervision.
- Troubleshoot minor problems.
- Attend training sessions and meetings.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area and handle company tools properly.
- Advise the Shop Foreman when additional repair work is necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
