About The Position

North America Central School Bus is hiring a Diesel Technician III to maintain and repair school buses and company vehicles. The role supports the safe transportation of children and calls for experienced, safety-focused technicians. The technician performs maintenance and repairs in accordance with FMCSA and DOT standards, supports the adoption of electric-vehicle maintenance practices and technology, and may mentor junior technicians. A CDL Operator’s license (Class B) with a P endorsement must be held or acquired within 60 days of hire; training is provided. Technical certification or ASE certification is preferred.

Requirements

• Experience in diesel engine repair and vehicle maintenance.
• Familiarity with FMCSA and DOT safety standards.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Leadership skills and willingness to train others.
• Must possess or be able to acquire a CDL Operator’s license (Class B) with a P endorsement within 60 days of hire; training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and overhaul school buses and fleet vehicles in accordance with FMCSA guidelines.
• Champion the adoption of electric-vehicle maintenance practices and technology.
• Perform inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance.
• Tune engines, align wheels, and maintain electrical systems to meet DOT standards.
• Replace worn parts, change filters, and perform oiling and greasing.
• Test-drive vehicles after repairs to ensure safety and performance.
• Perform minor bodywork and repainting as needed.
• Track parts usage, manage inventory, and order supplies.
• Report safety concerns and corrective actions.
• Mentor junior technicians and assist where needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
