About The Position

Waste Connections is an integrated services company providing solid waste collection, transfer, disposal, and recycling services. The Diesel Mechanic performs repairs, inspections, safety checks, diagnostics, and maintenance on diesel vehicles, including their electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems. The mechanic may respond to emergency road calls, test-drive trucks following service, complete or assign repairs, document work in fleet maintenance software, and assist team members. The role requires maintaining a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards and communicating professionally and courteously with drivers. The position is listed for the 2nd shift.

Requirements

• Proficiency in a variety of diesel vehicle diagnostic tools, preventative maintenance, and repair.
• Basic tool set.
• Class B CDL or ability to obtain one within 90 days of starting the position.

• Hydraulic experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and inspections, safety checks, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on diesel vehicles.
• Use vehicle computer electrical systems to interpret failure modes and identify and adjust Engine and Vehicle Control modules.
• Respond to road calls for emergency repairs.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software programs.
• Test-drive trucks after services and repairs.
• Help other team members with repairs as needed.
• Interact professionally and courteously with drivers when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
• Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
