About The Position
Groot is seeking a safety-conscious Diesel Mechanic for the second shift at its hauling location in Elgin, Illinois. The shift starts at 2 p.m. The mechanic performs repairs and preventive maintenance on trucks and equipment, and may also work on industrial machinery as needed. Pay is $46 per hour, based on experience. Overtime is available after 40 hours at time and a half.
Requirements
- Possess own tools.
- Previous diesel mechanic experience is required.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs, including on electrical and hydraulic systems, and assigned preventive maintenance services.
- Use vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Complete required fleet maintenance software paperwork documenting repairs, parts usage, and repair times.
- Review and complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
- Work on industrial machinery as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
