About The Position

National Tank Services, part of the Trimac Family of Companies, provides inspection, repair, certification, and cleaning services for fleets. The Diesel Mechanic performs preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on trucks and trailers while following safety practices and company standards. The role also includes moving equipment in and out of the shop, maintaining repair orders, and performing shop housekeeping. The position pays $28.00–$38.00 per hour. The schedule is either Tuesday–Saturday, 11:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., or Sunday–Thursday, 5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license.
3–5 years of experience maintaining trucks.
Ability to provide basic hand tools.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to read and understand service manuals.
Knowledge of shop tools and equipment used to repair and maintain company equipment.
Basic knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance.
Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations and out-of-service parameters for tractors, trailers, and accessory equipment.
Knowledge of proper procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous waste materials.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers, using required personal safety equipment.
Move trucks and trailers in and out of the shop for maintenance.
Open repair orders and charge appropriate parts to each repair order.
Perform tire inspections and complete related paperwork to company standards.
Perform shop cleanup and housekeeping, along with other related duties as assigned.
Inspect and maintain basic vehicle and accessory roadworthiness, including fuel levels, tire pressure, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and safety equipment; submit reports on equipment condition.
Understand and perform the Driver Vehicle Inspection Repair (DVIR) process.
Diagnose and repair tires and wheels, brakes and air systems, clutch and linkage, and mud flaps and hangers.
