Diesel Mechanic
About The Position
As a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech II) at United Rentals, you will maintain, perform preventive maintenance on, and make minor repairs to rental equipment in a safe and professional manner. The role involves mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems, along with documenting work and delivering exceptional customer service. You may demonstrate equipment to customers and assist with equipment and parts pickup and delivery. The position is identified as Safety Sensitive. Opportunities may be available to progress to higher-level technician roles in the Service Department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- One to two years of experience repairing or maintaining vehicles and equipment, or graduation from trade school.
- Own tools applicable to the position.
- Basic understanding of schematics and diagrams.
- Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 45 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs on rental equipment and tools involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
- Complete and maintain accurate, timely paperwork or electronic work-order documentation each day.
- Demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment for customers.
- Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
