About The Position

Waste Connections is hiring a safety-conscious PM Technician / Diesel Mechanic in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The role is posted as a PM Technician, with the possibility of hiring at the Technician level based on experience. Final title and compensation depend on qualifications, experience, and skill level. This is a second-shift position: Monday through Thursday from 12:30 PM to 11:00 PM and Friday from 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Pay is $26.00–$33.00 per hour, based on experience. Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable laws.

The position involves preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on vehicles and equipment. Work may take place indoors in a maintenance shop or outdoors repairing trucks in the field. It requires substantial physical activity and exposure to weather, noise, vibration, grease, dirt, fumes, and confined workspaces. The company emphasizes safety, integrity, and an empowered, self-directed team environment.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English.
• Must own personal mechanic tools.

Nice To Haves

• CDL preferred but not required.
• Previous diesel maintenance, PM service, or technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Use vehicle computer and electrical systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
• Complete required paperwork in fleet maintenance software, including records related to repairs, parts usage, and labor tracking.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
• Conduct safety inspections on vehicles and equipment.
• Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
• Follow all safety procedures and precautions.
