About The Position

As a Diesel Mechanic - Experienced (Service Tech IV) at United Rentals, you will perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment with limited or no supervision, using independent judgment and working in a skilled, safe, and professional manner. The role includes maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems across rental and customer equipment and tools. You may travel to customer job sites, help train less experienced technicians, document completed work, and assist with equipment and parts pickup and delivery. The position also emphasizes exceptional customer service and may offer opportunities to progress into leadership roles in the Service Department.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
At least 5 years of experience repairing or maintaining equipment and tools.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
Must own tools applicable to the position.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer equipment and tools, using independent judgment.
Travel to customer job sites when required to repair or maintain rental or customer-owned equipment.
Maintain the service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
Complete paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed, including work orders, accurately and promptly each day.
Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Provide exceptional customer service.
