About The Position

Sapp Bros is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic Technician to service heavy-duty semi-tractors and trailers. The role involves providing diesel repair and maintenance services, diagnosing and repairing defects, and meeting customer needs professionally, efficiently, and on time. The technician may also perform roadside repairs and emergency field work, operate a service truck, and assist in training other team members. Sapp Bros operates travel centers from Utah to Pennsylvania and describes safety as a core part of its workplace culture.

Requirements

• Be reliable and hardworking, with strong mechanical and technical inclination.
• Be organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a cooperative attitude, and willingness to assist others.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
• Ability to provide documentation establishing identity and eligibility to work legally in the United States.
• Willingness to undergo a criminal background and employment reference check.
• A combination of training, education, and/or experience equivalent to Sapp Bros service center standards.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least one year of related automotive or diesel experience preferred.
• ASE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and other defects in heavy-duty semi-tractors and trailers.
• Provide a full range of diesel repair and maintenance services.
• Ensure customer needs are met professionally, promptly, and efficiently.
• Replace and balance tires according to established procedures.
• Repair or replace starters, generators, and universal joints.
• Adjust or replace brakes.
• Discuss service and repair problems with customers when necessary.
• Assist in completing work orders.
• Perform emergency repairs in the field.
• Conduct minor arc welding.
• Assist in training and advancing other team members.
• Operate a service truck and provide roadside repairs, including tire repairs.
