About The Position

The Diesel Mechanic performs maintenance, repair, and diagnostic tasks on a range of vehicles and equipment, including Class 6, 7, and 8 powered tractors. The role diagnoses and repairs mechanical and electrical systems, troubleshoots heavy-duty truck engines, braking, electrical, and exhaust systems, and tests vehicles after service to confirm proper operation. The mechanic documents repairs, inspections, and maintenance, and collaborates with business partners for training and assistance with complex repairs.

The position requires use of personal maintenance tools and hydraulic jacks to access the underside of vehicles. It involves working on, under, and around large trucks and equipment, handling tools and parts, and performing physical tasks such as standing, climbing, bending, and lifting. Pay is $31.30–$36.05 per hour, based on experience.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
• Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend English to perform job tasks, understand instructions and regulations, communicate with coworkers and the public, respond to inquiries, and complete required documents and records.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of diesel mechanic experience.
• Proficiency in diagnostic software.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain systems and parts associated with Class 6, 7, and 8 powered tractors.
• Diagnose failures and repair vehicle mechanical, electrical, and other systems.
• Use hydraulic jacks to gain access underneath vehicles.
• Assist with replacing engines, transmissions, differentials, and springs.
• Troubleshoot repairs to heavy-duty truck engines, braking, electrical, and exhaust systems.
• Document repairs, inspections, and maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with business partners for training and assistance on complex repairs and tasks.
• Test vehicles after repairs and maintenance to ensure they function properly.
