About The Position

Superior Diesel, Inc. is hiring a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic at either its Waterman or DeKalb location. This full-time role involves maintaining and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a clean, organized shop, with occasional field service work based on customer needs. The mechanic diagnoses and repairs equipment, documents work, communicates findings and recommendations, and works with service advisors and management to support customer satisfaction. The position offers steady hours, a consistent year-round workload, and opportunities for training and advancement.

Requirements

At least 3 years of mechanical experience or completion of a related mechanical training program.
Proficiency with mechanical and computerized diagnostic equipment.
Valid driver's license.
Must provide own hand tools.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a truck or diesel technician.
CDL.
ASE certifications.

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including fluid and filter services and inspections.
Conduct brake inspections and identify potential problems before they become major repairs.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic software, tools, and equipment.
Repair or replace engines, transmissions, brake systems, HVAC systems, suspension, and electrical-system components.
Troubleshoot and complete repairs efficiently and accurately.
Safely operate hydraulic lifts, pneumatic tools, welders, and other shop equipment, following company safety procedures and best practices.
Communicate repair findings and recommendations clearly.
Document inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and parts used accurately.
Work with service advisors and management to support customer satisfaction.
