About The Position

North America Central is hiring a Diesel Technician to maintain and repair school buses and company vehicles. The role supports the safe transportation of children and requires an experienced, safety-focused technician. The technician maintains vehicles according to FMCSA and DOT standards, performs inspections and diagnostics, completes repairs and preventative maintenance, and helps advance electric-vehicle maintenance practices. The position also includes parts and inventory tracking, reporting safety concerns, and mentoring junior technicians. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time.

Requirements

• Experience in diesel engine repair and vehicle maintenance.
• Familiarity with FMCSA and DOT safety standards.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Leadership skills and willingness to train others.

Nice To Haves

• Technical certification or ASE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and overhaul school buses and fleet vehicles in accordance with FMCSA guidelines.
• Support the adoption of electric-vehicle maintenance practices and technology.
• Perform inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance.
• Tune engines, align wheels, and maintain electrical systems to meet DOT standards.
• Replace worn parts, change filters, and perform oiling and greasing.
• Test-drive vehicles after repairs to confirm safety and performance.
• Perform minor bodywork and repainting as needed.
• Track parts usage, manage inventory, and order supplies.
• Report safety concerns and corrective actions.
• Mentor junior technicians and provide assistance where needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
