About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel vehicles and equipment supporting its collection and environmental services. The role works with modern tools and procedures and may involve maintaining CNG trucks at some locations. The normal work setting is a repair and maintenance shop at the Lafayette, Louisiana site, with work both indoors and outdoors. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The position offers a starting wage of $27 or more per hour, depending on experience, along with benefits and allowances.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Nice To Haves

• A commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks.
• Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
• Complete project work.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards, and perform work according to established safety procedures.
