About The Position

Safely operate, repair, rebuild, and maintain company-owned or leased heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment, including rolling stock, to ensure safe operation. The mechanic will maintain and repair the waste and recycling fleet, performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks, including rear loaders, side loaders, front loaders, and roll-offs. The position is located at 2809 Galloway Road, Bolivia, NC 28422, and works Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Overtime is available after 40 hours worked. The stated pay rate is $25–$33 per hour, with higher pay possible based on experience, certifications, and skill level. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is paid in two installments: $2,500 after 30 days and the remaining $2,500 after 90 days.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as a diesel technician or mechanic.
• Own a personal set of basic mechanic's tools.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced shop environment.
• Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice To Haves

• Class A or B CDL, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic or air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
• Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment, including compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems.
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow OSHA and DOT safety protocols.
