Entry Level Diesel Mechanic
About The Position
Fleet Services – A Cox Automotive Company is seeking individuals interested in a career as a Diesel Technician through their FleeTec Academy program. This paid educational program is designed to train individuals who may not otherwise be able to afford traditional technical school and provide them with the necessary skills and tools to become full-time Diesel Technicians. The program includes paid classroom training, free technical education, a set of hand tools and toolbox, and hands-on training with a Lead Technician, leading to a full-time Mobile Diesel Mechanic position. Mobile Technicians use state-of-the-art vehicles to perform preventative maintenance and general repairs at customer locations.
Requirements
- Desire to start a career as a Diesel Technician and become a Mobile Mechanic.
- Willingness and ability to study hard.
- Dedication to be away from home for 4 weeks for training.
- Maturity to focus on the task at hand.
- Technical aptitude and a passion for fixing vehicles.
- Ability to operate an iPad.
- Must be 21 years old to drive one of their trucks.
- Background checks, driving records checks, pre-employment drug testing, and physical examination.
Nice To Haves
- High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Attend four (4) weeks of full-time schooling at the Academy Campus.
- Participate in hands-on training with a Lead Technician.
- Perform vehicle repairs at customer locations using a state-of-the-art vehicle.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and general repairs onsite at customer locations.
- Continue to develop skill set through periodic classroom study.
- Operate an iPad for work-related tasks.
