This is an opportunity for individuals interested in a career as a Diesel Technician. Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services is announcing open enrollment into its FleeTec Academy class. FleeTec Academy is a paid educational program that leads to becoming a full-time Diesel & Trailer Technician. The program aims to help individuals enter the Diesel & Trailer Maintenance field by providing free education, a set of hand tools with a toolbox, and a weekly paycheck. The program includes four weeks of full-time schooling at the Academy Campus, with travel expenses, hotel accommodation, and a stipend for meals paid by the company. Upon completion of the classroom phase, participants are paired with a Lead Technician for hands-on training and offered a full-time job as a Mobile Diesel Mechanic. The role involves performing vehicle repairs at customer locations, including preventative maintenance and general repairs, to ensure fleet efficiency. The program offers a predefined pathway for raises and career advancement.

Requirements

  • Desire to start a career as a Diesel & Trailer Technician and become a Mobile Mechanic.
  • Willingness and ability to study hard.
  • Dedication to be away from home for four (4) weeks for training.
  • Maturity to focus on the task at hand.
  • Technical aptitude and a passion for fixing vehicles.
  • Ability to operate an iPad.
  • High-School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education is preferred, but not required.
  • Must be at least 21 years or older.
  • Must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File.
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Have taken apart and put back together a pickup truck.
  • Experience as a lube tech or in a maintenance shop.
  • A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical.

Responsibilities

  • Attend four (4) weeks of full-time schooling at the FleeTec Academy Campus.
  • Undergo further hands-on training with a Lead Technician in your market.
  • Perform vehicle repairs at customer locations as a Mobile Diesel Mechanic.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and general repairs onsite to keep vehicles running efficiently.
  • Continue classroom study periodically to develop skill sets.
  • Operate an iPad for work-related tasks.
