About The Position

Whiteline Express is hiring a Diesel Mechanic for its Jackson Center, Ohio team. The mechanic will maintain and repair the company’s fleet of Class A trucks and trailers, including performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical problems, completing repairs, and rebuilding equipment as needed. Work may involve brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, electrical components, and diesel engines. The mechanic will inspect completed work and equipment before release to ensure compliance with federal and state code regulations and company safety standards. Offsite service calls may be required. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a flexible start time between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. and an end time between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., depending on the start time. The mechanic may open or close the maintenance garage based on the schedule. Pay depends on experience.

Requirements

Experience working on heavy-duty trucks and tractor trailers.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and diesel engine problems.
Ability to use battery and charging system test equipment.
Basic MIG and oxy-acetylene welding skills for welding or fabricating bodywork and parts.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
ASE certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance on Class A trucks and trailers.
Remove, clean, repair, reinstall, and adjust truck and trailer components.
Diagnose mechanical problems and complete repairs or rebuild equipment as needed, including brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, electrical components, and diesel engines.
Evaluate completed work and conduct final equipment inspections before release to confirm compliance with federal and state code regulations and company safety standards.
Make offsite service calls as needed.
Open or close the maintenance garage based on the schedule.
