Diesel Mechanic/Technician
About The Position
Kooner Fleet Management Solutions is hiring a field-based Mobile Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair light- and medium-duty vehicle fleets. The technician performs preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, DOT inspections, and emergency roadside service. The role involves responding to scheduled and unscheduled dispatch requests, working independently at customer sites, and providing safe, reliable, and efficient service. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 6:00 PM to 3:00 AM. Candidates must bring their own hand tools; the company supplies other equipment and a service truck.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on automotive or diesel technician experience working on light- to medium-duty vehicles.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and drivers.
- Comfort using mobile apps, navigation systems, and digital tools to organize work and document repairs.
- Willingness to work outdoors at customer yards in all weather conditions.
- Independent, dependable, and self-motivated work style.
- Positive attitude and safety-first mindset.
- At least 23 years of age, with a clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
- Must provide own hand tools.
Responsibilities
- Perform onsite preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light- and medium-duty vehicles.
- Respond to emergency roadside service calls with confidence and urgency.
- Respond to dispatch requests for scheduled and unscheduled service or maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, brake, cooling, and air systems.
- Use diagnostic tools, handheld computers, and precision instruments to identify and repair issues.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to complete repairs.
- Road-test vehicles to verify repair quality.
- Meet or exceed industry-standard repair times while maintaining productivity and efficiency.
- Work with vendors to source parts.
- Maintain the company-issued service truck, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure safety compliance.
- Support the team as needed.
