About The Position

United Ag & Turf is a John Deere dealership serving customers across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, and New Mexico in commercial, construction, agricultural, golf, and consumer industries. The Diesel Mechanic/Service Technician independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance on customer agricultural, compact construction, and turf equipment. Some work may require direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Service Advisor, or Shop Foreman.

Requirements

• Experience performing service repairs; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics is preferred.
• Experience repairing and maintaining equipment using special tools and equipment in accordance with Technical Manual procedures for the technician’s specialty.
• Experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in off-road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment.
• Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
• Basic computer skills.
• Experience working cooperatively in a team environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• An adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics.
• Experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools.
• Associate degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology.
• Mentor Service Technician Trainees and Service Technicians.
• Account for billable time and assigned work orders.
• Document diagnostics and repairs thoroughly on work orders and submit information on time.
• May participate in required Service EDUCATE Training programs to develop skills and knowledge.
• Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment needed for the job.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Follow safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments.
• Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
