Diesel Mechanic - Service Technician

About The Position

United Ag & Turf NE, a John Deere dealership with locations across the Northeast, is seeking a Service Technician to diagnose and repair engine components, including small engines, agricultural equipment, and other equipment sold in its market area. The technician performs complex diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance on customer- and/or dealer-owned equipment. Work must be completed safely, professionally, promptly, and to high standards of quality. The role includes customer contact, diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment with diagnostic tools, and completing repairs. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday on the first shift, with Saturdays as needed, and may require flexibility for varying shifts and after-hours calls.

Requirements

Own and maintain personal tools; specialty tools are provided by the dealership.
Have basic computer skills.
Be able to assemble equipment and perform maintenance functions.
Be able to work a varying schedule or shift and respond flexibly to after-hours calls.
Have strong customer service skills.
Have strong oral communication and written communication skills.
Have strong organizational skills.
High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

Two to three years of experience as a mechanic working on small engines, diesel and gas engines, and small handheld components.
Experience with John Deere equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform complex diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance on customer- and/or dealer-owned equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic tools.
Repair engine components, including small engines, agricultural equipment, and other equipment sold in the market area.
