About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventative maintenance inspections and repairs as well as performing expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdown on roads, reduce vehicle downtime and fleet reliability.

Requirements

  • CDL
  • ASE Certification for diesel mechanics or Certification from technical or trade school
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in diesel and heavy equipment repair
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of fleet maintenance and repair
  • Knowledge and experience in repairing refrigeration units and refrigerant evacuation and recharge
  • Ability to analyze fleet repair, cost and recommend more cost-effective solutions
  • Ability to stay current regarding the latest trends and innovations in fleet repair
  • Ability to communicate clearly and consistently both orally and written
  • Clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for fleet preventative maintenance, repairs, and testing of vehicles and equipment
  • Plan, organize, direct, schedule, coordinate, and review fleet work orders for in-house and out-sourced repairs/maintenance
  • Maintain close communication with route scheduler and drivers
  • Coordinate the ordering, purchasing, stocking and inventory of vehicle and equipment parts
  • Perform complex and technical repairs
  • Ensure the appropriate and efficient use of annual assigned budget
  • Ensure record keeping is complete such repair and maintenance records, expenses, etc
  • Maintain technical knowledge regarding mandated regulatory requirements for fleet operations
  • Maintain safe work environment
