About The Position

As a member of TravelCenters of America’s Truck Service team, the Diesel Apprentice 1 provides accurate, efficient service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a professional and accommodating manner. The role is part of a coast-to-coast team of technicians and supports TA’s goal of returning travelers to the road better than they came.

The position involves working in a service-focused team environment, learning about the products and services offered, completing repairs within the team member’s capabilities, and following applicable service standards, customer programs, and safety guidelines. Work may take place indoors and outdoors and can involve exposure to seasonal weather, noise, vehicle components, fumes, dust, grease, oil, and cleaning solutions.

Requirements

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
• Ability to work in interior and exterior conditions.
• Valid driver’s license.

• Previous experience in a repair or parts shop.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, efficient service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
• Work in a team environment focused on providing great service and exceeding customer expectations.
• Develop extensive knowledge of the products sold and services provided.
• Diagnose wear conditions and, together with a TSA or Manager, make recommendations to customers.
• Complete repairs within the team member’s capabilities.
• Understand Truck Service Standard Services and specialized customer programs.
• Follow safety guidelines and report potentially unsafe situations caused by team members or customers.
