Your work will ensure safe operation and reliable performance of the fleet by focusing on diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance.

Requirements

• Successful completion of the commonwealth’s Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Possession of an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
• Possession of an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations on the first day of employment.
• Active Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment.
• Possession of an active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) within the probationary period.
• Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
• Subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair vehicles and equipment including engines, transmissions, and mechanical systems
• Carry out scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and tune-ups to support safe operation
• Maintain hydraulic, electrical, heating, cooling, and exhaust systems on assigned equipment
• Perform official state safety and emissions inspections and complete related records
• Repair and maintain motorized hand equipment and report missing or damaged parts
• Follow safety procedures, identify hazards, and maintain a clean and safe work area
