About The Position

The Diesel and CNG Tractor Mechanic repairs, maintains, and troubleshoots fleet equipment, including CNG and diesel tractors, 53-foot trailers, pneumatic brake systems, engine diagnostics, and CNG/diesel engine drivetrains. The role performs preventive maintenance inspections and complies with DOT regulations. It also involves inspecting and repairing tractor and trailer undercarriage components, including shocks, wheel bearings, air suspension components, and front-end assemblies, and diagnosing and repairing CNG and diesel engine failures involving fuel, electrical, DEF, and mechanical systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Eight years of documented practical tractor and trailer repair experience.
• Strong electrical abilities with tractor and trailer lighting systems.
• Ability to learn to operate a 35-ton tow vehicle.
• Valid Michigan CDL-A license, or ability to obtain one within the first six months of employment.
• Valid passport or enhanced driver's license.
• Ability to work any shift.
• Satisfactory motor vehicle report and accident history, with no DUI or OWI.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot fleet equipment, including CNG and diesel tractors and 53-foot trailers.
• Work on fuel systems, electrical systems, pneumatic brake systems, engine diagnostics, and CNG/diesel engine drivetrains.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and comply with DOT regulations.
• Inspect and repair tractor and trailer undercarriage components, including shocks, wheel bearings, air suspension components, and front-end assemblies.
• Diagnose and repair CNG and diesel engine failures involving fuel, electrical, DEF, and mechanical systems.
