About The Position

Supports the activities of the Die Change group within the Die Casting Department for a designated shift(s) to ensure the achievement of production schedule changes. This role involves leading, coordinating, and participating in various activities including die and trim die changes, troubleshooting and repair of production equipment, preparing production-related reports, and implementing production improvement objectives. The specialist will apply good 3S and 5S practices to all equipment and facilities within the assigned area and ensure procedural discipline is consistently applied.

Requirements

Must have an understanding of die casting processes, die casting machines, and ancillary equipment.
Minimum of 6 months of progressively responsible die casting operation experience.
Must have basic verbal and written communication skills.
Must have basic organizational skills.
Must have basic computer skills for working in spreadsheets, graphs, and word processing for preparing reports.
Must have good problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Weld experience preferred but can train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Welds and repairs ladles.
Performs daily checks of ladle pour position and assists in improvement.
Welds and helps repair machine and sleeve bushings.
Performs inventory of all die change supplies and works with the Division Leader to order as needed.
Communicates and coordinates information flow with other divisions and departments regarding parts quality issues within assigned production area(s).
Promotes and participates in 5S audits to improve overall 5S in the division.
Participates in die and trim press die changes as a backup.
Participates in the troubleshooting and repair of any production equipment problems to ensure production schedules are met.
Complies with Safety Procedures on the floor.
Works under the supervision of the Division Leader to complete training to meet all production, maintenance, safety, quality, and other required skills/knowledge, and provides ongoing training to continually improve skills.
