About The Position

The Die Maker is a craft position that creates cutting dies by hand using wood, steel rule knife, and rubber, with assistance from industry-specific automated equipment designed for cutting die production. The role may involve one or more assignments in constructing flat and rotary cutting dies, including layout, sawing, ruling, and rubbering. The Die Maker is expected to drive Container Graphics CS1 mindset and represent the company in a positive, energetic, and consistent manner. This position reports directly to the Production Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of math fundamentals, including fractions, decimals, and basic geometry.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure and caliper.
• Good hand/eye coordination.
• Basic knowledge of computer platforms.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of how to operate hand and power tools.
• Strength and mobility to perform the duties, including standing, moving, lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions and strong finger dexterity.
• Ability to safely lift up to 65 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Metal working background.
• High school diploma or equivalent is also listed as preferred education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform one or more job assignments in the construction of flat and rotary cutting dies: layout, sawing, ruling, or rubbering, following the applicable corporate Standard Operating Procedures.
• Follow all CGC corporate safety program requirements.
• Understand and participate in quality checks as required.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping in the work area.
• Read CAD files to accurately assemble custom tools.
• Use manual and automated equipment to form materials needed to build cutting dies.
• Assemble cutting dies by hand.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.
