About The Position

The Diamond Turning Tech sets up and operates diamond turning machines to produce low- and high-volume production jobs that are complex and have tight tolerances. The employee may train others as directed by the Operations Manager. The role also involves inspecting and maintaining lenses and machines, handling and setting up diamond tools, performing machining tasks, and recording production and inspection information. Additional duties may include special projects, working in other operations areas as needed, keeping the work area organized, and completing other assignments requested by a supervisor.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in the diamond turning field is preferred.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables where limited standardization exists.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including prolonged standing, occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting or moving up to 75 pounds.
Close vision and color vision.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate diamond turning machines to manufacture mold nubbins and prototype lenses.
Clean and visually inspect diamond-turned lenses.
Inspect lenses using metrology equipment.
Record inspection data, labor hours, and job information as required.
Clean and maintain diamond turning machines as required.
Inspect and handle diamond tools.
Perform vacuum chuck mounting and machining.
Perform spindle balancing.
Set up multiple diamond tools.
Adjust machines and change program parameters to maintain lens tolerance.
Machine diffractive surfaces.
Train others as directed by the Operations Manager.
Work on special projects and related assignments when requested.
Work in various areas of operations when necessary.
Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Keep the work area clean and organized.
