About The Position

The Diamond Turning Tech is responsible for setting up and operating diamond turning machines to produce low- and high-volume production jobs. The work involves complex jobs with tight tolerances, including manufacturing mold nubbins and prototype lenses. The employee may train others as directed by the Operations Manager. The role also includes inspecting and maintaining machines and lenses, recording production and inspection information, and supporting other operational areas or special projects as needed. Employees must follow supervisor instructions and may be assigned other responsible duties.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in the diamond turning field is preferred.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work well as a team player.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables where limited standardization exists.
Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including standing for long periods and occasionally lifting or moving up to 75 pounds.
Close vision and color vision.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate diamond turning machines to manufacture mold nubbins and prototype lenses.
Clean and visually inspect diamond-turned lenses.
Inspect lenses using metrology equipment and record inspection data, labor hours, and job information.
Clean and maintain diamond turning machines.
Inspect and handle diamond tools.
Mount vacuum chucks and perform machining.
Balance spindles.
Set up multiple diamond tools.
Adjust machines and change program parameters to maintain lens tolerances.
Machine diffractive surfaces.
Train others as directed by the Operations Manager.
Work on special projects and related assignments when requested.
Work in various operations areas when necessary.
Perform other related duties and assignments as required by a supervisor.
Keep the work area clean and organized.
