About The Position

As a diamond turning machinist, you will manufacture and develop sub-micron-tolerance diamond-turned parts at production volumes. This role offers the opportunity to use world-class equipment, build diamond-turning skills, and help produce parts that push the boundaries of what can be machined.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
At least 6 months of experience operating CNC machines.
Availability for 10-hour shifts.
Ability to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
Ability to stand for at least 8 hours.
Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.
Ability to work with repetitive movement, bending or twisting, and handling, controlling, or feeling objects, tools, or controls; role includes exposure to distracting sounds and noise levels.
Must meet the stated U.S. export-regulation eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Nice To Haves

Experience running diamond-turning lathes.
Experience with sub-micron-tolerance parts and how to handle and inspect them.
CNC lathe setup experience.
Understanding of optics manufacturing and associated metrology.
Ability to provide feedback and suggest process improvements to production and engineering.

Responsibilities

Follow defined work instructions and process controls, and maintain a safe work environment.
Maintain maximum machine and work-center uptime by identifying and reporting off-nominal issues, including alarms and out-of-tolerance conditions, and actively maintaining best practices.
Use metrology equipment, including CMMs, optical microscopes, and Zygo interferometers.
Change tools and tooling according to defined processes.
Complete data entry and work tracking, and communicate effectively.
