About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides care to patients with end-stage renal disease and supports clinical staff throughout dialysis treatment to deliver prescribed treatments. PCTs are part of an interdisciplinary team focused on safe care and high-quality patient outcomes. The position works under RN supervision in a clinical setting. Dialysis experience is not required, and paid training is provided.

This is a full-time schedule of four 10-hour shifts starting at 5 a.m., with Sundays off and no overnight shifts. Compensation is $18–$25 per hour, depending on healthcare experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Desire to collaborate with care teams.
• Ability to problem solve.

Nice To Haves

• Previous healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
• CNA, EMT, medical assistant, CNT, and/or phlebotomy skills are desired.
• Dialysis experience is not required; job shadow opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

• Participate in infection control, risk management, and patient education activities.
• Guide new patients through a 120-day education plan.
• Obtain and record patient vital signs and dialysis machine readings during treatment.
• Work under RN supervision.
• Set up and break down the dialysis blood system for treatment.
• Insert and remove patient access needles.
• Monitor patients during dialysis, document changes, and inform the charge nurse of concerns.
• Calculate patient weight loss needed to reach dry weight.
• Determine patient care priorities and organize workload accordingly.
• Maintain professional working relationships while observing patient privacy and rights.
• Maintain and track inventory.
• Perform laboratory work.
