About The Position

Our team works collaboratively to ensure every patient receives exceptional care and support throughout their treatment journey. The Diagnostic Scheduler is responsible for thoroughly screening patients and coordinating the scheduling of diagnostic imaging services and related appointments. This position serves as a liaison between patients, providers, and outside facilities to ensure timely and accurate scheduling of diagnostic tests and follow-up care. The Diagnostic Scheduler also coordinates Peer-to-Peer reviews for physicians, verifies patient information, and maintains accurate records within the electronic health record (EHR) system. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational, communication, customer service, and multitasking skills while maintaining a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

Previous medical office, scheduling, patient services, or healthcare experience preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Strong computer skills and experience with electronic health records preferred.

Responsibilities

Thoroughly and accurately screen patients prior to scheduling diagnostic testing.
Schedule diagnostic imaging procedures and post-diagnostic follow-up appointments in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner both in person and by telephone.
Accurately schedule appointments in accordance with physician preferences, scheduling guidelines, and departmental procedures.
Reschedule or cancel appointments at the request of patients, physicians, or clinical staff and communicate scheduling changes to appropriate personnel.
Coordinate and route MRI Scheduling Templates to MRI staff and/or procedure schedulers as required.
Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, and contact information.
Schedule and coordinate Peer-to-Peer review calls for physicians with insurance carriers and other healthcare entities.
Assist with scanning and indexing medical documentation into the patient's electronic health record.
Coordinate diagnostic imaging appointments with outside facilities when testing cannot be performed at OSMC.
Print and distribute reports to appropriate staff members in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to scheduling activities.
Stay current within the field through continuing education, professional development activities, and training opportunities.
Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
