About The Position

The Parents as Teachers Developmental Screener administers screening to students, including scoring and interpreting results for young children from birth through pre-Kindergarten. This role utilizes approved developmental, health, hearing, and vision standards for young children to identify potential developmental delays. Parent engagement, communication skills, and organization are critical, along with utilizing screening tools such as the DIAL-4.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 60 college credit hours or equivalent to be eligible for substitute certification through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education preferred
  • Proficiency with common technology used within a school setting.
  • Ability to work independently demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Early childhood background or certification for Missouri PAT also preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening administration including accurately recording screening data, score results, and maintaining records in a web-based system to ensure compliance with student records, Parents as Teachers programming, and DESE oversight.
  • Discuss screening results with parents and/or guardians, providing resources, support, and guidance on child development.
  • Identify children who may need further evaluation and facilitate referrals to the appropriate services.
  • Maintain clean equipment, follow safety procedures, and participate accordingly as a member of a broader team.
  • Ability to work independently demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills, including proficiency with common technology used within a school setting.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is necessary in order to perform the functions of this position.
  • Perform associated roles as required for building operations and to respond in the event of an emergency.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required for District operations.
  • Maintains appropriate student records and timelines.
  • Attend meetings and workshops necessary for District operations and to enhance knowledge in areas of general responsibility.
  • Maintains confidential nature of all school-related material.
  • Attend events outside of the regular school day designed to bring the public into the school, serve on a committee, plan appropriate instruction, and attend required meetings associated with the role of “teacher.”
