This position involves providing clinical services for patients at Children’s Hospital and other approved sites in an ethical, professional, and timely manner. The role includes overseeing the medical care team, managing direct patient care for a specified patient population, and improving continuity of care, customer service, and partnerships with community medical providers through timely completion of records and communication. The position also requires providing on-call services as determined by division leadership, actively participating in family-centered care, and communicating professionally and compassionately. The role involves referring patients to specialists and relevant ancillary services as appropriate, utilizing the defined chain of command and escalation policies, and responding to team members and outside medical providers in a timely and respectful manner. Additionally, the position requires clear communication to trainees regarding expectations for patient updates and notifications of significant clinical changes, and encouraging questions from trainees. The role also encompasses contributing to advocacy initiatives, scholarly efforts for public policy advancement, teaching patients and families, and participating in health promotion programs. Research activities include conducting research of significant scientific value, reviewing manuscripts, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and submitting grant applications. Educational responsibilities involve participating in medical education programs, hospital/university-wide educational programs, and local, regional, and national educational efforts, providing timely feedback to trainees, ensuring adequate orientation for trainees, and supervising and training clinical professionals and students effectively. Commitment to Quality & Compliance involves following established bylaws, policies, procedures, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety standards. This includes promptly completing clinical documentation, identifying and recommending improvements for patient services, cooperating in policy development, participating in committees, reviewing and preparing protocols, evaluating patient care, participating in peer evaluations, and reporting medical errors.
