Ambulatory physician provide acute medical care and primary preventive care services to children from birth to young adulthood. Utilizes advanced knowledge, skills, and expertise in pediatrics for an identified population of patients, including acute & primary care, health promotion, prevention of disease, and management of chronic disease. Performs delegated medical functions as described in written protocols and/or a collaborative agreement that have been approved by medical and nursing administration. Systematically assesses the physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families through the use of a medical screening exam (MSE), history and physical exam, and other assessments as appropriate. Develops a plan of care for each patient/family based on assessment and documents according to policy. Demonstrates competence consistent with evidence-based practice in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of identified patients. Monitors clinical outcomes to improve the quality of care for patients. Evaluates and modifies the plan of care as needed. Integrates the role of teacher into clinical practice to provide patient education. Assesses learning needs, provides for education and evaluates learning objectives are achieved. Assists the staff in providing patient and family education. Consults within the organization on current pediatric clinical practice and disease management in area(s) of expertise. Functions as a resource to the community in areas of expertise. Participates as a member of related professional organizations. Functions as a role model and informal leader.
