About The Position

The Developmental Interventionist will provide direct intervention services to customers referred and enrolled in Part C Early Intervention services (birth to three years old). The Developmental Interventionist will also provide consultation to Service Coordinators, contracted providers, and families, to assist in meeting the needs of customers. May participate in Part C eligibility evaluation as business dictates. The Developmental Interventionist will report to the Clinical Supervisor in the Developmental and Behavioral Health Department.

Requirements

Must have basic computer skills, including word processing
Knowledge of Early Intervention systems including standards of practice
Ability to understand the needs of a range of disabilities
Knowledge of life-span issues, including typical and atypical early human development
Knowledge of family social, emotional, financial, psychological and cultural issues
Knowledge of human behavior and performance, and individual differences in ability, personality, and interests
Knowledge of development in infants and young children
Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of developmental challenges specific to discipline
Ability to communicate information and ideas in family-friendly language
Skill in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking appropriate questions
Knowledge and understanding of discipline’s national standards of practice
Two years of experience delivering services to children ages birth to 5.
Master’s degree in discipline area
Meet the state personnel requirements for providing DI services on the IFSP
Current licensure to practice in the state of Colorado
Valid drivers license
Proof of motor vehicle insurance
Personal vehicle in good operating condition for use during work
No major violations in the past three years.
No more than two moving violations in the past three years
Ability to meet and maintain agency driving requirements and operate agency vehicles

Nice To Haves

At least 3-5 years of experience in working with infants with complex medical conditions that place them at high risk for developmental disabilities and their families.
Fluent in Spanish or other relevant language desired.
Experience working successfully as part of a transdisciplinary team.
Experience working directly with community partners such as Denver Public Schools, child care centers, hospital NICUs, Early Intervention Colorado.
Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Registered with the Early Intervention Colorado database
Completion of state EI Provider Training
Experience implementing behavioral strategies applicable to young children and their families

Responsibilities

Performs intervention activities for children birth to 3 in home, or other environment.
Writes timely and complete IFSP goals, progress notes, correspondence and other documentation needed to provide high quality services and meet state and company requirements.
Creates strategies based on family priorities that are measurable and meaningful.
Effectively communicates test results and proposed strategies that are functional for the child’s and family’s life and are approached in a Primary Service provider model.
Collaborates with staff to implement IFSPs.
Shares knowledge and resources that enhance children’s developmental progress.
Provides families and service providers information about proper techniques to assist with activities at home that supports the child and family’s participation.
Implements the Primary Service Provider Model for children enrolled in Early Intervention
Participates in Trans disciplinary team for Early Intervention caseload as a developmental expert and resource to peers
Manages full schedule to accommodate client schedules and meet billable client service hours set by the department (57%-62% of FTE; 23-25 scheduled sessions per week) while utilizing correct CPT coding and non-coding based on billing hierarchy.
Is culturally responsive and competent in working with a diverse population.
Assists team members in advocating for the needs of the individual customer both within the agency and externally.
Potentially supervise doctoral students, graduate students or other clinical fellows.
Performs other clinical or administrative duties as assigned by leadership
