About The Position

The Development Resident Engineer (DRE) is responsible for validation and development-related activities for basic feature market-specific features. The DRE will act as a local representative of the supplier HQ to support the Customer’s development and validation teams. This role involves communicating with the Customer’s local engineering teams regarding product status, resolving product-related issues on-site, performing test cases, and supporting the component manager. The DRE will also serve as the interface between the Customer’s and internal engineering teams, create and verify issue tickets, deliver test reports, and participate in joint testing sessions. A key aspect of this role is investigating problems and analyzing root causes, understanding the development process for both client and customer projects, and performing individual test cases as assigned by HQ. The role is approximately 80% field testing and 20% data logging or updating.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s engineering degree
  • 2 or 3 years more in job-related experiences
  • Requires strong driving skill/Test vehicle Maintenance
  • Understanding of wireless network technologies (GSM-based LTE, 5G NR, T-Mobile/Verizon carriers) for network testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive Multimedia and Telematics experience are preferred
  • Willingness to travel 20% of the time. (out of state and office)
  • Should support late call to discuss the urgent issue to the team in Korea, possible to work at holiday if urgently required

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with the Customer’s local engineering teams regarding product status on behalf of the supplier’s HQ.
  • Resolve product-related issues locally at the Customer’s engineering site (e.g., hardware problems, damaged samples, flashing issues, etc.).
  • Perform test cases and road trips for both basic and market-specific features using test racks and test vehicles.
  • Support the component manager with the supply and updates of system components.
  • Serve as the interface between the Customer’s engineering team and the internal engineering team regarding engineering matters and vehicle configurations.
  • Create issue tickets and verify them before delivering software/hardware to the Customer.
  • Deliver test reports to the Customer and internal engineering teams on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Participate in joint testing sessions with the Customer’s engineering teams.
  • Investigate problems and analyze root causes with the Customer and internal engineering teams.
  • Understand the development process for both client and customer projects.
  • Perform individual test cases as assigned by HQ.
