About the position
This full-time position is for a Mechanical Engineer with demonstrated development experience in designing environmentally sealed electrical devices. The role involves developing over-voltage and overcurrent protection devices for the Phoenix Contact Regional Business Unit, SPT. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing molded electrical equipment housings for IP67 environments and will work independently and as part of an international team. The job also includes tasks such as 3D/2D CAD, mechanical/simulation analyses, verification testing, and qualification planning/acceptance.
Responsibilities
- Works with more experienced team members to develop unique solutions to problems
- Approve documents and milestone stage gates as Mechanical Engineering development representative
- Participates directly with the quality department in defining the AQ and/or QC process
- Assists with preparing presentations
- Reviews and evaluates technical reports and analysis performed by internal/external engineering personnel
- Ability to interpret geometric tolerancing, inspection, and test data
- Refined skills in 3D modeling and 2D drawings
- Knowledge of corporate and industry standards
- Work as a team player to make a difference within the business and express gratitude and appreciation to others who have provided information, assistance, or support
- Design of molded IP 67 housings preferred
- Mechanical FEA simulation experience a plus
- Travel by air
- Occasionally travel overseas for extended periods as required
- Occasionally travel domestically as required
- Sit for extended periods of time
- Organize and express ideas clearly and concisely in both verbal and written English
- Lift 25 lbs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 4-7 years of relevant experience preferred
- Ability to interpret geometric tolerancing, inspection, and test data
- Refined skills in 3D modeling and 2D drawings
