About The Position

The organization is now building a comprehensive major gifts program to expand its philanthropic impact—and this role is central to that effort. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Philanthropy, the Development Coordinator provides the operational and communications backbone that enables the development program to function effectively as a relationship-based major gifts program. This role supports donor engagement, stewardship, fundraising operations, and administrative coordination to advance organizational philanthropic goals. The Development Coordinator manages donor data and reporting, coordinates development activities and communications, and helps ensure timely, accurate, and professional interactions with donors and stakeholders. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in nonprofit development, event coordination, fundraising support, or a closely related field, required.
  • Experience with Salesforce or comparable CRM/donor database; comfort with data entry, reporting, and basic system management, required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft professional donor correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality, professionalism, and a high level of donor and customer service in all interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), preferred.
  • Experience supporting fundraising events such as galas, golf tournaments, or peer-to-peer events, preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); working knowledge of design tools such as Canva.
  • Exposure to direct mail or email fundraising appeals.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary logistical coordinator for The Baker Center’s signature fundraising events, including the annual gala, golf tournament, and 5K run/walk, managing timelines, vendor relationships, venue coordination, registration, and day-of execution.
  • Supports the development and management of event sponsorship tracking, guest lists, table assignments, and follow-up communications.
  • Manages the production and distribution of donor acknowledgement letters, tax receipts, and other stewardship correspondence, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and a warm donor experience.
  • Supports the execution of annual fund appeals and targeted donor communications, including direct mail and email campaigns, drafting content under the direction of the VP of Philanthropy.
  • Processes all gifts accurately and in a timely manner in Salesforce (NPSP), maintaining clean and up-to-date donor records.
  • Manages donor and constituent data entry, including new donor records, address updates, relationship tracking, and event participation records.
  • Conducts monthly reconciliation of gift records with the Finance team.
  • Supports the VP of Philanthropy with scheduling, meeting preparation, and administrative tasks that enable effective donor relationship management.
  • Assists with board development committee coordination, including meeting logistics, materials preparation, and follow-up.
