About The Position

Ode is defining frontier AI by tackling complex AI problems for companies with real stakes. As Anthropic’s services venture, Ode works closely with client Applied AI and Product teams to turn frontier technology into real-world impact. The team is composed of experienced builders focused on getting complex AI systems into production. Ode is seeking its first Developer Relations Engineer to build a lasting engineering brand. This role will be embedded within the engineering team, involving reading code, attending architecture reviews, and client interactions, with the goal of translating this work into content, community, and presence that engineers respect. The company is backed by prominent investors and has offices in SF, NYC, Raleigh-Durham, and Dubai.

Requirements

Strong engineering foundation with experience shipping software and a focus on quality.
Understanding of why good system design is important.
Ability to engage in credible technical conversations with senior engineers about AI architecture, evaluation design, or production tradeoffs.
Exceptional writing skills with clarity and specificity.
Ability to create content that earns attention and is shared by engineers.
A feel for the developer zeitgeist, understanding what practitioners find credible versus hype.
High ownership mindset, willing to jump in without instruction and shape strategy and culture.
Low ego and high integrity, with a collaborative approach to helping and asking for help.
High bar for honesty with oneself and the team.

Responsibilities

Write and publish technical content, such as blog posts, project teardowns, and HN writeups, based on the team's actual projects.
Build Ode's presence on platforms frequented by strong engineers, including Hacker News, technical podcasts, conferences, and niche communities.
Run high-signal community engagement initiatives like dinners, workshops, and small events to connect top engineers with Ode in a non-transactional manner.
Drive open-source contributions and external projects that showcase Ode's engineering caliber.
Forge partnerships with complementary technical brands through co-sponsorship of events, co-publishing content, and cross-community pollination.
Provide feedback to engineering leadership regarding practitioner excitement, skepticism, and future building trends.
