Developer Relations Engineer

Runpod
$125,000 - $180,000Remote

About The Position

Runpod is the AI Developer Cloud, used by over a million developers to experiment, train, fine-tune, deploy, and scale AI. The platform has processed over 20 billion inference requests. We are at an inflection point for AI infrastructure and are building the platform for the next generation of developers. We are a small, remote-first team that values ownership, speed, and impact. Developer Relations (DevRel) at Runpod is about building trust with developers by meeting them where they are and helping them succeed with our product. It combines engineering, product, and marketing, focusing on technical credibility, product influence, and broad reach. DevRel at Runpod means being customer zero, using the same tools and workflows as our developers to ensure our content, tooling, and advocacy are grounded in real usage. This work extends outward through education, community, and content, and inward by feeding product insights back into the company. We are seeking a Developer Relations Engineer who will code, develop developer tools and resources, and transform hands-on platform experience into technical content. This role is crucial for Runpod's expansion, turning a quality product into essential developer tools and resources. You will have significant ownership, developing the strategy for tools, resources, integrations, and frameworks, and shaping the initial developer experience. You are empowered to build solutions independently to address onboarding issues or gaps.

Requirements

  • Experience writing code in Python, JavaScript, or Go
  • Experience as a software engineer
  • Technically credible, able to build and demo real things on the platform and hold a deep technical conversation without a script.
  • Experience creating technical content such as demos, docs, tutorials, or sample apps — for a developer audience
  • Track record of building integrations or contributing to open-source projects within an ecosystem (ML/AI frameworks, SDKs, tooling)
  • Comfortable working with high autonomy, identifying gaps or friction points and shipping fixes without waiting for direction
  • Familiarity with GPU compute, ML infrastructure, or AI engineering workflows
  • The ability to regularly attend events and conferences in person
  • Able to speak publicly on behalf of a developer facing product
  • Successful completion of a background check

Nice To Haves

  • A strong written voice, with recaps and posts that make people who weren't in the room feel like they missed something
  • The ability to create videos with a high level of technical depth
  • Familiarity with AI libraries and frameworks, agent frameworks, or ML infrastructure and GPU workloads

Responsibilities

  • Build tooling, extensions, and plugins that improve the developer experience on Runpod, and instrument them so the impact is measurable. Success means shipped tools with real adoption that reduce friction and drive downstream product usage.
  • Deliver talks at developer and AI developer conferences, and build relationships with organizers and attendees.
  • Spend time building as our users build, and surface any pain points and bugs you encounter along the way.
  • Design and run programs that scale our core pillars: content, events, and community, so impact compounds over time. Success means repeatable, durable systems rather than one-off efforts.
  • Show up consistently where developers are, build genuine relationships, and surface insights to Product and other relevant teams. Success means deep community presence that generates inbound interest and shapes product direction.

Benefits

  • Competitive base pay ranging from $125,000 - $180,000
  • Meaningful equity in a fast-growing company
  • Generous medical, dental & vision plans — we cover 100% for all employees and partial for dependents.
  • Flexible PTO
  • $1,200 Home Office & Equipment Stipend
