About The Position

Tideways is seeking an experienced software developer to join their team as a Developer Relations Engineer. This role involves working directly with customers to transform complex technical knowledge into clear, practical, and accessible content. The engineer will research, understand, and explain topics related to PHP performance, profiling, and operations, with a focus on Magento 2 or Shopware 6 ecosystems. Responsibilities include expanding Tideways' expertise in these areas and sharing it with the PHP community through various content formats. This position is ideal for a senior software developer who can investigate technical problems, gain a deep understanding, and communicate findings effectively to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • Experience building with either Shopware 6 or Magento 2.
  • At least some experience publishing content about any computer programming-related topics.
  • Strong English writing and speaking skills and the ability to explain technical topics in clear and simple words.
  • Strong German writing and speaking skills.
  • Residency and Work-Permit in Germany.

Nice To Haves

  • Worked with Tideways, or other PHP profilers and APM software.
  • Experience publishing content about PHP and everything built on PHP, Linux administration, performance optimizations, and profiling.
  • Familiarity with, or interest in, AI-assisted or agentic development workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Research PHP, Magento or Shopware performance topics, and analyze and mine aggregated performance data for valuable insights to write about.
  • Produce content about PHP, performance, profiling, and Tideways for blog posts, videos, podcasts, webinars, or conferences.
  • Work together with performance experts and PHP language developers to gather shareable knowledge.
  • Work together with the marketing team to improve ways of showing Tideways from the perspective of developers.
  • Teach customers about Tideways and analyze performance together with them in onboarding workshops.
  • Contribute to webinars and talks by preparing presentations, and optionally presenting the content yourself.
  • Represent Tideways to the PHP community in social media, chat groups, and forums.
  • Write documentation, guides, and tutorials about Tideways based on customer feedback.
  • Build and work on tooling that helps produce programming content consistently.
