Developer Productivity Intern [Winter 2027]
About The Position
Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous, general-purpose humanoid robots intended to perform a variety of tasks in home and commercial markets. The company is headquartered in San Jose, California, and aims to ship humanoid robots with human-level intelligence. The Developer Productivity Intern will join the Developer Productivity team to design and build infrastructure and tools that accelerate Figure’s software development lifecycle. The work is intended to have broad impact on the security, cost, and performance of development across the company. The internship requires a minimum of 10 weeks at Figure headquarters.
Requirements
- Be a rising senior or recent graduate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, graduating within one year.
- Work at Figure headquarters for a minimum of 10 weeks.
- Have strong Linux and systems fundamentals, including networking, storage, processes, and containers.
- Be proficient in at least one of Go, Rust, C++, or Python.
Nice To Haves
- Projects involving distributed systems, content-addressable storage, or caching.
- Experience with Bazel.
- Experience deploying services with Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar infrastructure-as-code tooling.
- Experience with LLMs and other AI tooling.
- Experience with a major cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the architecture and implementation of next-generation, large-scale build and deployment infrastructure.
- Redefine development environments to make them easier to use and substantially improve developer productivity.
- Develop backend and frontend tools that support build infrastructure.
- Work closely with firmware, embedded, middleware, and AI/ML engineers to ship new platforms and features.
